Application for recognition

The application for recognition of nursing professions requires you to submit a personally signed application. You can apply in person during service hours, by post, or electronically to the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection: Application for Recognition

If you do not have proof of being resident in Austria, you must designate an authorized representative for delivery: Authorization for Delivery

Application for the registration of successfully completed compensatory measures in the certificate of recognition:

The application for the registration of successfully completed compensatory measures in the certificate of recognition requires you to submit the following documents:

  • Application for the registration of the compensatory measure 
  • Original certificate of recognition
  • Confirmation of the completed compensatory measure (adaptation course or aptitude test)
  • Residential address – proof of registration
  • Copy of passport or identity card
  • In the event of a change of name, appropriate proof (e.g. marriage certificate)

The original certificate of recognition must be presented. Additional documents (apart from a copy of your passport or identity card) should be submitted either as an original or as a certified copy (by a court, notary, or municipal office. Original documents will be returned. 

Application for the issuance of a duplicate certificate:

The application for the issuance of a duplicate certificate requires you to submit the following documents:

  • Application for the issuance of a duplicate certificate 
  • Copy of passport or identity card
  • In the event of a change of name, appropriate proof (e.g. marriage certificate)
  • Residential address – proof of registration
  • If available, a copy of the original recognition certificate

Upon completion of the process, administrative fees of approximately €50 will be collected.
