Higher Vocational Schools

Higher vocational schools are full-time schools that can be attended from the ninth school year onwards and provide five years of training. These include the Higher Institutes for Nursing and Social Care (HLPS). They conclude with a school-leaving and diploma examination (Matura) and a vocational qualification, granting access to a university, university of applied sciences, or other tertiary education institution. Training for nurses with a degree in health and nursing care must be completed at a university of applied sciences.
